MAPSS Annual Meeting
Osage Beach, Missouri
January 31st,
2007 Start at 10:00 am
Meeting was called to order by President Allan Johnston. He
welcomed all members and guests. Went through the planned schedule for the
day. Allan gave a description
of the Lifetime achievement awards and called for Dennis Potter to present the
first one. D Potter to Burton Brown,
Burton could not attend but a presentation was planned for the near future to
give him the award. Dennis said a few words about Burton and his career. D Skaer to Bob Held,
This award was presented Jan. 27 at the Stone Hill Winery. Dave showed
pictures from the ceremony, said a few words, and told some stories. M Cook to George Preston. Mike gave an
overview of George's career and told some stories. Then presented the
award to George's wife and family including his son (past MAPSS President) John
Preston. Allan J Presented a turn key awards to Roger
Hansen and the Mo Soil & Water Commission. Roger said a few word about his appreciation
for the award and his pride in what the soil survey program in Missouri has
become during his time here. Bill Pauls gave a few words to the group
about the people being awarded and what the meant to Missouri. AJ released the meeting for break. Caryl Radatz presented the treasurer's
report. Grant Butler presented the three amendments
to the group and opened the floor for discussion.

Bryan opens floor for new business
Wyn Kelly makes a motion to continue support
of the State soil judging competition through an award for winner. Motion
made to vote on a $200.00 allowance, 2nd by B Plauls Passes unanimously
Ralph Tucker makes a motion to also support
the state champion of the soils portion of the Envirothon, perhaps with a plaque
for the school. 2nd by B Pauls... passes unanimously.
Bill Pauls makes a announcement that he would like to hold a
social event at his lake house this summer.
Dave Skaer opened the floor for discussion on a MAPSS ball game
with the St Louis Cardinals. Discussion of maybe a Royals game, maybe
both, some people want it to be a game between the 2 teams. Dave will send
out emails when schedules come out.
Motion made to close the meeting 2nd by Grant Butler.
