Maps Meeting 10/23/2006

 MAPSS Executive Council Meeting

Rolla, Missouri

October 23rd, 2006 Start at 9:30 am

 

In Attendance:  Grant Butler, Ralph Tucker, Caryl Radatz, Tom DeWitt, Tim Knoernschild, Allan Johnston, Dick Henderson, Bryan Mayhan, Bill Pauls, Teresa Gerber, Langston Simmons.

 

AJ started meeting and empasised that the main objective was to plan the annual meeting at Tan-tar-a.

 

Bill Pauls – Nominations for LifeTime Achievement awards.

            George Preston  -  By Mike Cook

 

Discussion -   All three nominations that were sent in were read and discussed.  Tim K makes a motion to approve all three.  R Tucker 2nd  Unanimous vote all three will receive awards.

˙       Caryl will get plaques made.  Mike Cook to present to George Preston.  Richard Tummons or Wynn Kelly to B Held.  Richard or Dan Childress to B Brown.

 Bill Pauls presented a request/nomination for Roger Hanson by Dennis Potter. For supporting Soil Survey into the next generation.  Dennis Popper wanted to thank Roger in some way.   

Discussion ensued some very opposed to a LTAA so moved to a special recognition of some kind "Key Turn"?.  After lengthy debate R Tucker makes a motion to recognize Roger in some way for his support of soils in Missouri.  B Mayhan 2nd   Vote 5 approve -  2 against motion passes.  D Henderson discusses how the Soil & Water Conservation Commission does the same thing as Roger for DNR.  That they should be recognized also.  After discussion Dick makes a motion C Radatz 2nd motion passes unanimously.

Annual meeting planning

1.      Caryl will reserve meeting room form winter meeting.  Room cost 100.00.  Refreshments will be provided by MAPSS.  Bryan M. to provide audio visual equipment.  Booth space 121.00.  Internet access 150.00

 

2.      Raffle items – all offers welcome!!!  Fishing pole, boat paddles, Colo Bar T-Shirts……etc.  Tom Dewitt and Bill Pauls will organize auction items. 

 

3.      Speakers for the meeting.   Tom DeWitt out in charge.  Several ideas were presented Tom will talk to all and arrange one or maybe two, if time would permit.

˙       Tim K will talk to people and see who is interested and what positions.

˙       Ralph Tucker to make ballets for voting.

 Constitution and By Laws – Grant Butler gives updates and changes.  There were some errors found on the version of the C&BL on the website.  Ralph will replace t with updateed version.  Grant asked everyone to look over the proposed version her wrote up that incorporates all of the amendments to be voted on in January.  It will be posted on the website.

Bill Pauls ask to strike part in Constitution and By Laws where it talks about a written news letter.
