Prairie Fork Conservation Area

October 11th, 2007 Start at 10:00 am

Meeting called to order at 10:15 by B Mayhan.  Ralph passed out the minutes from the last EC meeting in March and an agenda of all topics needed to be covered.

 -  Discussed all old business from last meeting.  Caryl went through the plaques for FFA and Envirothon winners and let us know Springfield asked for $50.00 instead of the normal $25.00 and menfro t-shirts for the winners.

-  Bryan contacted all of the previous committee chairs and all agreed to continue to serve for another year.  Including putting Chuck Harwood in touch with the education committee about his ideas and concerns.

-  Summer social gathering were discussed.  Varied success try some new things next year???

-  Caryl presented the financial situation.  One unresolved issue Chuck Harwood never paid for the fishing trip he won in the MAPSS auction.  Caryl contacted Dave Wolf  who told her Chuck never contacted him about taking the trip.
Action  -  Ralph will write a letter to Chuck.  We may have to enforce a pay now policy in the future.  If he didn't want to pay someone else might have paid at a lower amount, MAPSS loses out.

Reggie Bennet attended the meeting to present MAPSS with the opportunity to organize and take a leadership role in the dedication ceremony of the Deep Core display at Prairie Fork Conservation Area.  We will work with NRCS, MDC, MDNR, and the Prairie Fork Conservation Trust.  Dedication would be on or around Earth Day in April 08.  The group agreed to be involved and to take the lead.  Bill Pauls will head the effort.  Two adhoc committees were formed for organizing the dedication, and creating a handout to accompany the display and create an educational soils curriculum for PF.
Action  -  Bill will begin organization and write separate proposals for funding the dedication and writing the brochure/curriculum.  Teresa is to organize the publications with Dr Rovey & Bennedict Nage's data and include Sharon Small with NRCS to create the publications.  Decisions on speakers will be made soon and contacted for availability.  We will meet again to see where we are and make further decisions.

Preparation for annual meeting at Tan-tar-a.
     -  Caryl and Ralph volunteered to organize the meeting.
    -    Speakers, time frame, awards, booth, new officer election, committees, and fundraisers were discussed
